Hands-on

The engineer, and the paperwork

Engineering, led from the inside

At OrbVPN he specified the billing, the authentication and the apps, and directed the developers who built them. At NDB, software and engineering were the two largest teams he built. He still writes the code himself: 17,341 commits under his own GitHub account.

The law his companies run on

  • Patents

He writes the technical disclosures patent attorneys draft from, and works with them on strategy in the US and Singapore: restriction requirements, office actions and freedom-to-operate reviews. Named inventor on 14 US patent publications, two of them granted.

  • Contracts

Non-disclosure and technology-assignment agreements drafted for his companies; contractor agreements and IP deeds reviewed and worked up for counsel's final word.

  • Companies

Companies formed and their statutory filings made himself, from Companies House in London to ACRA in Singapore.

No law degree, and he doesn’t act as a lawyer: he works alongside counsel, fluent in their language.
